HILLIARD, LORI AT ASHEVILLE HIGH, ASHEVILLE CITY SCHOOLS (REVIEW #60)Tue, Nov 1st, 2022
Case DetailLori Hilliard's play "Dracula, a feminist revenge fantasy" is sexist against men generally, and bigoted against Christians. She inappropriately cast teenage high school girls in roles that required them to seduce a married man. Students should not be learning how to sexualize their body language at school. Lori directed them to recite the Our Father Prayer, replacing the word God with the word Dracula. In the play, Dracula finds refuge in a church (suggesting that Christians aid & abet abusive men like Dracula). She should select plays where all students who are interested in doing theater would feel comforatble participating, instead of controversial plays that discriminate on the basis of gender, religion, or political worldview etc. There should be an equal opportunity for all students.Resolution SoughtThere are many plays which can bitter guide students toward positive leadership roles.Comment / Reply

" Growing up, I trusted schools to respect parent's rights and honor the family's role. Now, more and more, teachers seem to undermine the family, and impose their personal and political agenda on my children." "My daughter's Christian culture, beliefs and way of life were consistently under attack. Protecting Young Hearts gave me a voice in education.
